Jacob Parrott

A group keeping the story of the first Medal of Honor recipient alive gave this coin to Gary Roche. Jacob Parrot was a member of Andrew’s Raiders and received the first Medal of Honor from Secretary of War Stanton and met President Abraham Lincoln on March 25, 1863. March 25th is still celebrated as Medal of Honor Day today.

Gary thought that this challenge coin was a good contrast to the Gettysburg MOH Convention Coin, in that it has the original 1863 Medal of Honor with the original 1863 ribbon.
