Harvey C. "Barney" Barnum, Jr.

Gary Roche first met Colonel Barnum at the Medal of Honor Wounded Warriors luncheon at the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg on Thursday, September 19, 2013. He is on the board of directors of the Baltimore company that supplies Segways to Wounded Warriors. Colonel Barnum introduced Gary to some of the marines who are part of the Marine Wounded Warriors unit from Quantico, VA. They were attending the luncheon and had been on a tour of the battlefield with fellow Battlefield Guide Colonel John Fitzpatrick. They coordinated the tours with the Marine Band so that they could see the DeLacy Civil War MOH that we had displayed at the 7th Wisconsin Monument.

On Sunday after the convention ended, Gary took Barney and his wife, Martha, around the Gettysburg battlefield. They were both big students of the Battle. They invited both Gary and his wife, Marsha, to lunch at the Garryowen Pub in downtown Gettysburg, and they had a most enjoyable time.

In appreciation for the tour, in a parting handshake, Barney gave Gary this Challenge Coin.
